INNOVATIVE SUPPORT LAYER INCREASES EFFICIENCY OF FILTER MEDIUM PRODUCTION

Arnhem, the Netherlands (July 30, 2009) – Colbond today announced that it will launch a new range of innovative filter support layers that help filter medium producers increase production speed while cutting costs. The new range, Colback Pro, will be unveiled at Filtech 2009 in October.

Thanks to its unique composition of bi-component yarns consisting of a polyester core covered with a polypropylene skin, Colback Pro has a lower melting point than traditional Colback. This feature not only reduces energy consumption in manufacture, but also improves the binding with other filter media. Other key properties that characterize the new product range include improved electrostatic chargeability, a high acid resistance and outstanding weldability.

In addition to these new features, Colback Pro supplies the same benefits that all Colback support layers do. Specifically designed to suit the demands of the filtration industry, Colback support layers enhance the effectiveness and durability of both air and liquid filter media and activated carbon layers. Leading filter medium producers have relied on Colback for many years for its high stiffness at low weight and low thickness, outstanding dimensional and thermal stability and open structure. The support layer is easy to process and assures excellent pleating and high air permeability of the finished product.
